BCTourism: Responsive Design

Trip planner on a tourism website

Client: Tourism BC

Objectives

The goal for this project was to add more value and features to an existing website to engage visitors more. The website offers lots of travel information about destination, accommodations, events and activities in BC. With this project we wanted to add features that allow users to save travel information and create their own customized trip planner.

Challenges

We had to work with many restrictions as the features needed to be added to an existing framework. While adding new ideas we had to make sure to stay consistent with existing elements and work on a solution that could be integrated in 14 different “sub-sides” (for different languages & countries).

Process

The project was started with a workshop to define the user journey for this specific scenario “create a trip planner”.

Based on the user journey map and the specified requirements I created interactive wireframes (mobile first) in Axure.

To ensure consistency for the integration in different country sides I wrote a styleguide that included master templates in Axure as well as descriptions for the development team.
