Flat Web Design: the next trend?

Into The Arctic

I just found that interesting article about the next “trend” in web design (I know, that word is on my bullshit-bingo list, too): flat web design.

Although I like shadows and 3D-effects in web design, I’m happy to see new examples for simplicity again. Not purism – but adding design by not distracting from the core content.

As for an app it’s really neat, on a website (bigger screen) it looks kind of boring after a while…somehow not finished but more like a prototype. But it’s probably a good start for a way of finding the right balance for different screen sizes and creating simpler layouts for responsive designs.
